Help Center/Re-authenticating a client's identity

Re-authenticating a client's identity

In brief: A 30-second selfie step-up that confirms the verified person is still the one you're dealing with.

A step-up check that confirms the person you verified before is still the person you're dealing with — without rerunning full onboarding.

When to use it

  • A high-value or unusual instruction arrives by email or phone.
  • A transaction alert suggests the account may be compromised.
  • Periodic assurance on high-risk relationships.

How it works

The client receives a link and takes a quick selfie. Certivus compares it biometrically against the portrait captured during their original verification. No documents, no forms — usually under 30 seconds.

Starting one

  • From the client's actions menu (⋮): Re-authenticate Identity — available once their identity verification is complete.
  • From a transaction alert: Request client step-up — this also marks the alert awaiting user and copies the link for you to send.

Outcomes

A pass is recorded on the client's record with a fresh timestamp. A fail or mismatch routes the case to review so the MLRO decides next steps — nothing is auto-blocked without a human.

Requires a completed identity verification with a stored portrait, and the re-authentication capability enabled for your firm.
